Repeatable transfers between machining stations, in continuous use for several years.

A high-tech manufacturer specialising in CNC machining works with large aluminium blocks that need to transfer from one machining station to the next without compromising precision or surface quality. Manual handling between stations introduced risk of damage, scratches and dimensional drift. Forklift handling was unsuitable — surface contact and operator-dependent positioning made it the wrong tool for the precision required.

The aluminium blocks themselves are substantial: 4 metres long, 2 metres wide, weighing 15 tonnes each. Moving them between stations is not a routine forklift job — it is a precision transfer that needs to repeat every cycle, every shift, every year.

The brief

Move 4 × 2 m aluminium blocks, 15 tonnes each, between machining stations. Repeatable transfers. No operator handling between stations. Surface quality and dimensional integrity preserved.

The configuration

A HULCK Mover sized to carry the blocks and designed to fit the manufacturer’s machining-station layout:

  • 15-tonne load capacity. Configured for the block weight with appropriate safety margin.
  • 4 × 2 m platform. Matched to the block dimensions — no overhang, no need for additional support fixtures.
  • Dual hydraulic steering. Both axles steer with ±45° range, mirrored across the centre line. The dual-hydraulic configuration gives the Mover a small turning radius for the available space, while keeping the platform stable under heavy load.
  • Wired remote control. The operator controls the Mover directly via a tethered pendant — appropriate for a fixed, repeatable transfer pattern between known stations.

The result

The Mover has been in continuous use for several years. Aluminium blocks move from station to station on schedule, with the same load orientation arriving at every station. No operator handling between stations. No surface damage from manual transfers. The machining process — not the transport between machines — paces the floor.

The longevity of the installation is itself a reference point: this is not a recent delivery. The configuration has proven itself over multiple years of continuous use.
